The Neurodivergent Flow Board

- Working with your brain, not against it.

Welcome

If you tend to struggle with tasks and ever looked at a long list of jobs and feel frozen...

...started five different tasks but finished none...

...waited for motivation that never arrived...

...or felt overwhelmed before you even began...

you're not alone.

Many neurodivergent people—including those with ADHD, autism and AuDHD—don't struggle because they are lazy or incapable.

They struggle because many traditional productivity systems ask the brain to do exactly the things it finds most difficult: hold lots of information in mind, decide where to start, prioritise, switch attention efficiently and keep going without immediate reward.

The Neurodivergent Flow Boards were created to offer a different approach.

Rather than relying on motivation or willpower, they provide an external structure that reduces cognitive load, supports your nervous system and helps you build momentum one small step at a time.

There is no "perfect" way to use these boards.

Think of them as a flexible guide rather than a rigid system.

Experiment.

Adapt them.

Make them your own.

The aim isn't to become a different kind of person.

The aim is to discover the conditions that help your brain work at its best.

How the Flow Boards Work

The Neurodivergent Flow Boards aren't designed to help you do more.

They're designed to help you do what matters with less overwhelm, less decision fatigue and greater self-compassion.

The two boards work together.

Board 1 helps you organise your day, decide what to work on, get started and move tasks from start to finish.

Board 2 helps you stay regulated, overcome common obstacles and find your way back when your attention drifts or your energy changes.

You don't need to use every section every day.

Start with the parts that feel most helpful.

As the boards become familiar, you'll naturally begin using more of the strategies.

This board helps you set up and move through a task. It has four columns, plus some sections that support you along the way. You can use sticky notes to move tasks in and out of the top 4 columns.

Think of the boards as a simple cycle

1. Prepare

Choose what matters today.

Break tasks into manageable steps.

Reduce unnecessary decisions before you begin and use the relevant columns as required to set up.

2. Start

Move one task into READY.

When you're ready to begin, move it into DOING.

Keep your attention on just one small step.

3. Regulate

If you lose focus, become overwhelmed or feel stuck, use the tools on Board 2.

Check your energy.

Reduce the size of the task.

Reset your nervous system.

Ask for support if you need it.

You don't have to force your way through.

4. Finish

Move completed tasks into DONE.

Take a moment to notice what you've achieved.

Reward the effort you put in—not just the outcome.

Then decide what comes next.

A different way of thinking

Many productivity systems ask:

"How can I get more done?"

The Flow Boards ask:

"What does my brain need in order to do this?"

That small shift changes everything.

When you work with your brain instead of against it, starting becomes easier, setbacks become less discouraging and progress becomes more sustainable.

Before you begin...

You don't need to master every part of the boards.

Simply choose one task...

take one small step...

and let the boards guide you from there.
