ADHD Assessments

A Therapeutic, Neuro-affirmative Approach

My ADHD assessments are not quick tick-box exercises.
They are therapeutic explorations — a space to understand how your brain works, how ADHD traits show up in your life, and how to build on your strengths.

The goal is not simply to decide whether you “have ADHD,” but to help you make sense of your attention, motivation, energy, and emotions within the context of your life.
A diagnosis, if made, is one step in a larger journey of self-understanding and support. I offer a therapeutic neuro-affirmative diagnostic assessment to pave the way for your journey post-diagnosis.

Beyond Diagnosis

A diagnosis, if confirmed, can offer relief, validation, sadness and direction. But for many people, the assessment journey itself is what changes things — having your experiences recognised, your patterns named, and your story understood with compassion.

Therapeutic assessment is about making meaning, not just meeting criteria. It’s about understanding your identity, your strengths, and your needs, so you can live and work in ways that fit you better.

How It Works

1. Initial Consultation
We start with a 45-minute consultation to see if what I offer is a good fit and to explore your experiences, questions, and goals. If the assessment feels right, you’ll complete detailed reflective forms about development, mental health and your life experiences and ideally, you’ll choose to include input from someone who knows you well.

2. Assessment Sessions
We meet in person to explore your life history, focus patterns, and daily experiences (6 hours). A computer-based attention task may be included, alongside discussion of factors like anxiety, sleep, or environment.
The session is flexible — you can take breaks or move as needed.

3. Feedback and Next Steps
We review the findings together in everyday language (1 hour). You’ll receive a comprehensive report and optional summary letters for your GP or workplace if required.
If you’re considering medication, I can connect you with trusted ADHD specialists who work with shared-care arrangements.

Why This Approach

The therapeutic assessment process is about understanding, not judging. It values curiosity, collaboration, and lived experience — helping you see the patterns in your story and discover what truly supports you.

This process is not a test you pass or fail.
It’s a conversation that can bring relief, clarity, and confidence in who you are.
