An Easy Read Adult Learning Disability Diagnosis Booklet
Adult Learning Disability Diagnosis — An Easy Read Guide
Being & Belonging After Diagnosis
This is an Easy Read Guide for adults who have recently found out they have a learning disability, and for the family, friends and supporters around them.
Easy Read means it uses simple words and pictures, with one idea at a time — so you can read it on your own, or with someone you trust.
Finding out you have a learning disability as an adult can bring up a lot — relief, questions, worry, or all of these at once.
A diagnosis does not change who you are.
This gentle guide holds two things at the same time:
that some things can be genuinely harder, and that you matter, just as you are.
What the Easy Read booklet covers
What a learning disability diagnosis means
The feelings that can come with it — and why all of them are okay

Looking forward
How to use it
You can read it in any order, one page at a time, with breaks whenever you need them. It works well as a gift, or as something to look through together with someone who supports you.
This Easy Read booklet is for learning and reflection. It does not replace an assessment, diagnosis, therapy or medical advice.
