Autism Assessment Plus with Sensory Integration Assessment (Multi-disciplinary Assessment)
Autism + Sensory Integration Assessment
A Holistic, Neuro-affirmative Assessment
Many autistic people experience distinctive sensory worlds — sounds, lights, textures, or movement that feel stronger, softer, or simply different. These sensory experiences shape how we think, connect, and regulate.
Our Autism and Sensory Integration Assessment offers a joined, therapeutic process to explore both your neurotype and your sensory profile together.
I work closely with highly skilled Occupational Therapy colleagues at OT4U who are based in York. They specialise in sensory integration. Together, we combine our expertise to understand how your mind and body interact — not as separate systems, but as parts of one whole experience.
Why combine autism and sensory assessments
For many people, sensory processing isn’t an “extra difficulty” — it’s part of how their brain processes the world.
Understanding your sensory profile can help explain patterns of overwhelm, comfort, attention, and energy. It can also guide practical supports, from environmental adjustments to emotional regulation strategies.
This approach isn’t about “fixing” anything. It’s about understanding what helps you feel safe, regulated, and able to flourish in your daily life.
How we work
Step 1: Initial Consultation
- A 45-minute Autism screening consultation to talk about your concerns, history, and what you hope to gain
- A developmental and background info questionnaire (about 3 hours), which you complete, ideally supplemented by information from someone you trust (with your consent)
- Screening conversations around mental health and relational context
Step 2: The Assessment session
The main part of the process happens in person, at my Barnsley practice (5 hours) and in collaboration with my Occupational Therapy colleagues in York.
During our time together, we explore:
- Your life story, development, and mental health.
- How autistic traits appear across your communication, routines, and relationships
- Your sensory experiences — how you respond to light, sound, movement, or texture
- How these sensory patterns connect with your focus, emotions, and sense of safety
You are always in control of the pace. You can move, rest, bring comfort items, or take breaks whenever you need.
Step 3: Outcome & Feedback
- A feedback meeting to go through results together
- You’ll receive a written report in clear, accessible language
- I can prepare summary letters as needed (for GP, employer, education)
- Together we’ll look at what the insights mean for you, look at useful accommodations, therapeutic needs and plan possible next steps
- We will discuss sensory and environmental adaptations that can make daily life easier and more comfortable.
My approach
It’s about understanding your patterns, preferences, and needs so that life can feel more aligned with how you function best.
I adapt every assessment to your communication style, sensory comfort, and energy.
Autism and sensory differences are natural human variations.
My role is to help you understand how those variations show up for you — so that you can navigate the world with greater clarity, confidence, and self-compassion.
